Good Day!
Granted, it is always easier to Stay Connected when fasting...especially at the tail-end, haha. I am just about to break my 3 day fast. :-)
I have been reciting the incomparable poem, GOD,GOD, GOD as one of many upon awakening. I have been considering the lines:
"No matter where I go, the spotlight of my mind
Ever keeps turning on Thee;
And in the battle din of activity my silent war-cry is ever:
GOD, GOD, GOD!"
I have been reflecting on how wonderful it would be if they could actually be true for me in my life. Then, today, suddenly, while at Trader Joe's shopping for this weekend's Part ll, those lines came ringing through! Tears came to my eyes and my mind has returned to their sweet remembrance several times now.
Along with them, I have been spontaneously repeating the Light of Smiles. It is so much fun to practice that paean in ones life. Flashing a joyful smile to someone brings it's own rich reward. Experiencing a return smile, or the response of surprised JOY when a stranger receives your grin, is just icing on ones inner child's cake!
I believe it just takes perserverance to have these God-filled moments in one's daily, all-too-human life. Waking up and reciting the various affirmations, etc. immediately brings JOY, JOY, JOY and I haven't even crawled out of bed yet!
I have continued saying:
"Each morning I offer my body, my mind, and any ability I possess, to be used by Thee, O Infinite Creator, in whatever way Thou dost choose to express Thyself through me. I know that all work is Thy work, and that no task is too difficult or too menial when offered to Thee in loving service."
I notice that when I am doing something difficult, this passage comes to me to ease the way. When I am doing something trivial, this prayer makes it special anyway, because I am offering it to God.
I know as we fill up the small spaces of our lives with Divinity, we remember more and more we ARE Divine! We recall that we are Divine Beings having a human experience and it is our inner world that is real, authentic, and ever-comforting and joyful.
I am finally beginning to understand that this is the real purpose of meditation...this is WHY we must control our thoughts! We are pulling them away from our engrossment in the material, the outer, the inauthentic, and we are placing ourselves once again in the embrace of Eternal, all-solacing PERFECTION.
Our souls are Perfect, and always filled with Bliss. When we learn to fix the spotlight of our minds on THIS, we become filled with the JOY, PEACE, LOVE that has been and will ever be our Divine Birthright!
Loving you always, k
