Birthday of Yogananda!
Good Evening!
On the third and final day of my fast last eve, I awoke at midnight, sleep eluding me. I did all my Awakening ritual and eventually came to a place of great Peace. Not sleep, mind you, yet the next best thing, methinks.
I crawled out of bed at 2:30 as I was to be meeting our valiant little group for a 6 hour meditation in our Dome this morning at 3:30AM anyway. I took care of a few chores related to the Source Journey Training which begins this coming Monday.
We gathered poolside for Energization and then the 6 Rites and a smattering of yoga postures that would keep us steady and hopefully free of body awareness during the long sit.
A bit of chanting on harmonium and we plunged into the first half of our meditation. I did nod a bit, we each did, yet overall it was pretty darn easy. With a rousing set of Govinda Jai Jai we fully awakened ourselves and took on the final 3 hours.
I choose to encourage all to such a practice on the day of commemoration of their own Blessed Great Ones. I could feel the Master's Blessings showering upon us then....and continuing on throughout the day.
Just now I had a short and sweet 20 minute nap so I would be Awake and Ready for the wondrous service out in Escondido this evening. Please trust me when I share that there is no better way to prepare for such a fantastic eve than attending a six hour meditation earlier the same day. It increases the magnetism and depth of the event a hundredfold!
Immediately, I thought of the blog, and I bounded out of bed to the computer.
Sharing with you dear ones on this Holy And Special Day makes it all so much more rich and fine. Let us each do the necessary to be able to Light the Match of Smiles everywhere we go...bringing cheer and good will to hearts thirsty for Divine Love. Goodness knows the world is in requirement of it!
