Good Morning!
I think it's neat how we each may inspire one another with techniques, ideas, tricks to Stay AWAKE and AWARE. One of our Core group mentioned in a check-in that they were reading a couple of Daya Mata's books, including Finding The JOY Within You and "finding many clues and suggestions to follow more closely the path that Guru so admired about Daya Mataji's sadhana."
I was looking for Scientific Healing Affirmations to study during my bath-time and came across the above-mentioned book instead. "This will do nicely" I thought, as I recalled her statement received just last night.
I noticed the bookmark was at "Solving Your Problems With Guidance From Within" and that sounded right on the mark as well, both for me, and some folks I am aware are in the process of choosing their Highest Choice in specific matters. The quotations in this blog are each from this powerful chapter.
She mentioned something I have often felt: wishing some divine force would just tell me what to do. She said that "God expects us to use the mind He has given us, while asking His guidance."
Yogananda taught a prayer that I use daily and actually prayed this morning before arising. Daya Mata said they offer that very prayer, after meditating a few moments, and before discussing organizational work and making decisions in the ashram:
"Lord, I will reason, I will will, I will act; but guide Thou my reason, will, and activity to the right thing that I should do."
She said that we must reason, will and act AND continue asking the Lord to guide us; "Let me follow Thy will. Only Thy will be done."
She said by doing so we will continue to keep our minds open and receptive to Divine Guidance.
We all have the voice of Conscience, yet for many it has become quite silent. If we start putting right behavior into action, this inner voice will grow louder once again.
Intuition "is not able to function until we quiet the body and the mind." By meditating we enter a state of inner calmness. "The more deeply you meditate, and then put your mind on some problem, the more your intuitive power will express itself in resolving that problem."
Yogananda said intuition requires us to be "calmly active and actively calm; a prince of peace sitting on the throne of poise, directing the kingdom of activity."
Daya Mata said that "intuition is a blend of thinking (the thought process) and the heart (the feeling process)." She said as you practice meditation, "and living more in the state of interior calmness bestowed by this practice, you will find increasing improvement in the development of your intuitive power."
It is important to "distinguish when inner "guidance" is an authentic intuitive message, or only imagination or emotionalism." She said you can recognize intuition when your guidance produces the correspondingly right result. Intuition always brings good for one's life, or for someone else's.
In summary: Learn to enter the state of deep calmness coming from meditation; be more peaceful throughout all the day's activities; and use your God-given intelligence to make the best decisions you can, while continuously asking for Divine Guidance and remaining open and receptive to It as you proceed.
I hope this wonderful input from a God-Realized Soul assists you as much as it does me!
Loving you always, k
