Good Morning!
Yesterday was the Commemorative Service for Mahavatar Babaji so we began with a six hour meditation in the Dome. We are committed to do these on each of these special days. They usually honor a birthday or transition (Mahasamadhi) of one of these Great Ones. Since Babaji is still here, hundreds of years later, He just has one special day.
With such a beginning, my day was delightful. Meditation is what greases the wheels of life on earth. Our souls are JOY itself...and meditation puts our Consciousness in direct contact with that innate Bliss. The longer we Connect with It, the more we retain the effects and bring them into our Fraud World experience.
I fasted as well, as fasting further contributes to the experience and retention of the effects of meditation and Spiritual Focus. I intend to do this each Commemorative....setting this intention early assists me to keep it at the moment of choice. The ego is a tricky one, and putting it on notice well ahead is wise. I have the habit of fasting one day weekly anyway, so why not make it the best day of the week?
I happened to listen to one of Yogananda's CD's, The Glory of Spirit, on the way home from Inshallah Sunday. He was speaking of the importance of giving all Sunday to God. Doing extra meditation, attending what Temple offerings are available, spiritual study, etc. What perfect timing to have an impact on me! (I heartily recommend continuous listening to whatever lectures or music attach you to the REAL...driving can deeply contribute to your Spiritual Advancement, haha.)
We went to 2nd Service and I made it down to the Encinitas Hermitage and Gardens that afternoon. The place was swamped with visitors but very few were inside the Hermitage. I made my obeisance at Master's Study, where the AY was written, and then at His bedroom, where His dear shoes lay by His bed. Such a blessing to be in that sacred space, permeated with the transforming vibrations of a Great One.
He has said that making pilgrimages to such environs, blessed by the extended Presence of a saint, has the ability to greatly enhance one's Spiritual Awareness. I know that people come from all over the world to be at the Encinitas Hermitage. For them, it is truly a "Mecca" site.
I used to have the weekly custom of such a visit....what had become of it? The ego had taken off in some other direction....how foolish. It is my great privilege and good fortune to reside in Encinitas. I resolve to return to my former Sunday ritual when in town!
I also attended the Bhagavid Gita meditation and class late Sunday afternoon. Again, I shook my head wondering how I had fallen from regular attendance...especially of the class itself, since I had more often attended the opening meditation. The study inspired me greatly. In fact I will quote a particularly riveting passage which may pique your interest:
"...the perishable body; it's "prosperity" is health, well-being, and happiness as a result of freedom from its basic threefold troubles....
(3) Samskaras of bodily identification and sense attachment--compelling inclinations of past habits of the delusion of bodily limitation, and of evil tendencies of sense attachment that create insatiable desires which burn out the bodily instruments, destroy peace, and give untold misery to the soul."
This passage brings to mind our bewitching attachment to food, sex, money, power so often witnessed in the Fraud World. It may be also translated to the attachment to work, accomplishment, pleasing others, improving our physical environment.
Yesterday I had occasion to observe how such attachments mentioned above precluded various individuals' choice to particpate...either in the full six hour or the evening service itself: The Fraud World at work...using each possible opportunity to divert our efforts for Soul Freedom.
We must ever be watchful of the ego's ploys to steal from us moments that will cement our attachment to the Real, the truly Lasting, to choices that will lead us to Unending Bliss and Happiness.
I remind myself, I remind you. The discriminative analysis of our choices, moment by moment, is necessary if we are to keep loosening the grip of The Fraud World...and hastening our Awakening as Children of the ONE.
We will then know and experience the Truth of this bit from the Affirmation for Material Success:
"I am Thy Child;
The wealth of earth and universe
Belongs to me, belongs to me,
Oh, belongs to me, belongs to me."
Truly, we not only can HAVE it ALL, as God's Own, we DESERVE it ALL. Don't let the Fraud World distract you into settling for a pauper's portion!
